Pam Voorhees mirrors Alice in the Friday the 13th canoe scene ending
Crystal Lake Episode 2 begins with the grieving Pam heading to Crystal Lake, bathed in golden light in a shot that plants viewers firmly in the 1970s.
Then, just like Friday the 13th's surviving counselor Alice (Adrienne King) does at the film's end, Pam takes a canoe out onto the misty waters. Crystal Lake's scene is soundtracked by Harry Nilsson's "Without You," and sentimental piano ballad is an undeniable soundalike to Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini's music in that scene.

Just as in the film, a police car rolls up to the water's edge. Only in Crystal Lake, the officers who get out are new character Chief Levon (William Catlett) in addition to the original's Officer Dorf (Cameron Scoggins). In both the film and the series, the police officer beckons to the woman on the water.
While Alice's hand trails lazily in the water in Friday the 13th, Crystal Lake's Pam reaches her hand in because she's certain she sees sweet Jason reaching back under the surface.
Neither woman could predict what happens next.
Jason Voorhees rises out of the water in both Friday the 13th and Crystal Lake
Both characters' blissful reveries are interrupted by Jason Voorhees lunging out of the water. Encrusted with lake slime and no longer a child, Jason swings an arm over Alice in Friday the 13th and his mother Pam in Crystal Lake, pulling them into the water from behind.
In both the film and the series, neither women was really attacked. Both Alice and Pam wake up in breathless terror as they — and we — realize it was a dream.
Assured by police that they didn't find any boy in the lake, Friday the 13th's Alice exclaims, "Then he's still there!"
On Crystal Lake, Jason's mother Pam strongly believes the same.
“In my opinion, everything she does is for Jason,” Linda Cardellini told Entertainment Weekly, reflecting on her passionate, often-violent actions throughout the series. "She has to feel justified every time she does it,” she added. “Even if it’s not the truth to the outside, it’s the truth to her.”
All eight episodes of Crystal Lake are streaming on Peacock now.
