Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Grizzlies are currently 13–14 and in 9th place in the Western Conference standings. They have won four of their last five games with their most recent win being an impressive 116-110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Coach Tuomas Iisalo will be looking to continue his team’s good form when they visit the best team in the league on Monday. However, he’ll have to do so amidst an injury crisis that Memphis is struggling with. The Grizzlies are dealing with a plethora of injuries right now, namely a left ankle sprain suffered by star player Ja Morant against the Los Angeles Clippers on December 15th. Morant was questionable for their matchup against the Timberwolves on Wednesday, so there’s a chance he’sgood to go by Monday. Big man Zach Edey was ruled out last week for at least a month due to a stress reaction in his left ankle. Santi Aldama has filled in admirably for Edey, but the Grizzlies will be eager to get him back as soon as possible. Guards Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. have not played a game all year but are nearing returns in early 2026. With all of these injuries, Memphis will rely on all-star Jaren Jackson Jr. to lead the team offensively. He’s averaging 17.8 points per game this season but has scored 31 and 28 in his last two games. With so much of Memphis’ offensive firepower sidelined to injury, they will need to turn to their defense to win this one against OKC. The Grizzlies have held opponents to 110 points or fewer in four of their last five games, and if they can keep that trend going, Memphis will have a shot at upsetting the Thunder.
After starting the season 24–1, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday in the NBA Cup Semi-Finals. They are still in first place in the Western Conference and have a serious shot at breaking the Golden State Warriors’ 73-9 record, but that loss will sting for Mark Daigneault and his men. The Thunder have a back-to-back against the LA Clippers and the Minnesota Timberwolves before hosting the Grizzlies on Monday, and they’ll be looking to start another win streak of 10+ games. After starting the season with a heavy injury list, OKC are almost back to full strength. Jaylin Williams has been ruled out of Thursday night’s matchup against the Clippers with right heel bursitis and it’s unclear if he’ll be good to go by Monday. On the flip side, guard Isaiah Joe is now back from injury, adding an important player back into the rotation. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be looking to continue his MVP-caliber season against the Grizzlies. He’s averaging 32.4 points and 6.4 assists per game, and has been unstoppable against everyone this year. Supporting him will be Jalen Williams, who looks to have found his form after missing the start of the season to injury. Williams is averaging 17.3 points per game and his presence on defense has been a welcome sight for OKC. Rounding out the Thunder’s Big Three is Chet Holmgren, whose 18.7 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game have been immense. The Thunder will look to get back to winning ways after an extended rest of four days after their NBA Cup elimination.
