In a battle between two Eastern Conference teams hoping to make a run in the NBA playoffs, the Bucks host the Knicks on Tuesday night.

New York Knicks vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Sitting at 2-1 after three games, the New York Knicks come into the 2025/26 NBA season with high aspirations after a Game 6 exit from the Eastern Conference Finals last year. Despite such a deep run, the front office decided to replace head coach Tom Thibodeau with Mike Brown. Brown has come in and immediately changed the identity of this Knicks team. In previous seasons, Thibodeau relied heavily on his starting five and elected to run a narrow rotation, where only seven to eight players got minutes, with some consistently playing over 40 minutes a game. Under Mike Brown, though the sample size is small with only three games played, the Knicks have developed a deep rotation with at least 10 players getting minutes in each game and not one player playing over 40 minutes. It will be interesting to see how this change will impact the Knicks throughout the course of the season. With that said, the team is still being led by all-star and reigning Clutch Player of the Year Jalen Brunson. Brunson is averaging 30.3 points through three games, picking up right where he left off last season, and Milwaukee will have their hands full trying to stop him. Fellow all-star Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging a double double of 20 points and 14 rebounds to start the year, and the Knicks will need his scoring to help support Brunson. Behind this duo, New York’s Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby have enjoyed good starts to the season, both averaging 16 points a game to along with their defensive efforts, averaging 1.7 and 2.7 steals a game respectively. With a deeper bench than previous seasons, including Josh Hart, Miles McBride, and Jordan Clarkson, Mike Brown and the Knicks hope this is their year to make it out of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Also sitting at 2-1, the Milwaukee Bucks are coming off a close 118-113 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. After a summer filled with rumors that star player Giannis Antetokounmpo could be traded, the organization is glad to have him back for the 2025/26 season. He has started this year superbly, averaging 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists through three games, including a 40-14-9 performance against the Cavs. The biggest question this year will be whether he has enough help from the rest of the roster to help the Bucks compete for a championship. Milwaukee has been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for the past three consecutive seasons, and after letting Damian Lillard go this offseason, it will be intriguing to see who steps up to fill that void. The Bucks signed center Myles Turner from the Pacers, but he has averaged only 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds to start the season. The team will need more from him if they hope to win games this season. Another source of scoring could come from Kyle Kuzma, who the Bucks traded for in February in a deal that saw veteran Khris Middleton leave for the Washington Wizards. After averaging almost 15 points for Milwaukee after the trade, he’s had a slow start to this season, picking up an injury in their second game against the Raptors and it’s unclear if he’ll be ready to play against New York on Tuesday. The rest of the Bucks roster includes Bobby Portis, Gary Trent Jr., and AJ Green, who will all be looking to contribute offensively.
