Get a House Tour of the Creepy Old Victorian at the Heart of The 'Burbs Peacock Series
Get a helpful house tour of the spooky Victorian at the heart of Peacock’s new original series!
With Keke Palmer’s new mystery/comedy series The ‘Burbs now streaming on Peacock, it’s safe to say the spooky housing market is booming.
The series is loosely based on Joe Dante's 1989 movie The ‘Burbs, starring Tom Hanks (who gets a nice little Easter egg in Episode 1 of the new series), so if you've seen that, you might have a sense of where we’re going with the whole spooky house thing. Like the movie, the show takes place in the suburbs, where everything seems idyllic, except for perhaps the house across the cul-de-sac.

With the nosy (and thirsty) neighbors always watching, the big Victorian across the street, which has taken on its own lore in the 20 years its sat vacant, has become quite the topic of conversation in Hinkley Hills -- the “safest town in America,” where Palmer's Samira has just moved with her young husband (Jack Whitehall) and their new baby. But when a real estate agent shows up to put the creepy Victorian on sale, open house and all, that’s when the mystery really starts to burn.
With the series now streaming on Peacock, we’ve got something special for you: a tour of the old Victorian charmer at the center of 'The Burbs, the grand dame of Ashfield Place, straight from the real estate agent from the show (played by Dan Wiley). That's right, now's your chance to own a little piece of Hinkley Hills history!

Yes, that's Hinkley Hills Realty's top real estate agent, showing off the “charming five bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Victorian” on a “secluded cul-de-sac in the ‘burbs.” Of course, as the local garbage man says about cul-de-sacs in the pilot episode, “There’s only one way out.”
As our helpful realtor tells us, the eclectically furnished house has “great bones,” and “takes move in ready to the next level.” Sure, dust and cobwebs (and perhaps ghosts) appear to be overtaking the place, but “a little bit of cleaning and this place is in tip top shape.”
Granted, we don’t get a good look at the basement, as our real estate agent doesn’t like the looks of what’s going on down there: “Ever hear of Swedish death cleaning?”
Of course, he notes, “these old houses" are "always a bit of a surprise,” but he assures that the “leaded glass window gives a perfect view of the entire neighborhood… oh, and the neighbors!”
Take a good look at that window though, as there’s plenty of mystery lurking behind it in the series.
And sure, there’s some spooky writing on the walls of one of the bedrooms, but that’s what paint is for! And as our helpful real estate agent assures, at a whopping 4,666 square feet, “They just don’t make home likes this anymore, at all.”
