What to expect from Peacock NBA Monday on February 23
The Pistons are a dominant force in the Eastern Conference. They're the first and so far only team in the East to top 40 wins on the season, thanks to an excellent defense and incredible play from stars like Cade Cunningham. They've been on an incredible run, but they also haven't played the Spurs yet this season. Though the Oklahoma City Thunder are still at the top of the Western Conference, San Antonio is not far behind, delivering one of the league's best point differentials and one of the best rebounding squads on the court right now. In the time since Victor Wembanyama joined the squad, the Spurs have bounced back to something that resembles their former glory, and the San Antonio faithful are hoping this will be their year. The Pistons certainly have a home court edge in this one, but don't be surprised to see San Antonio pull off a statement victory.
In Game 2 of the evening's doubleheader, we've got the Rockets, who are close behind San Antonio in the Western Conference standings and, if they keep winning, will show up in the postseason in the spring. The one-two punch of All-Stars Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun has served them well so far this season, and they should show out against the Jazz. Utah's fielded a struggling team so far this season, and with both Lauri Markkanen and Jusuf Nurkic sidelined recently due to illness and injury, respectively, they'll have an uphill battle against one of the league's best teams. But this is the NBA, where anything can happen!
