How to Watch Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 1 - NBA Playoffs Round 2 on Peacock
The tough-as-nails Timberwolves are bringing the fight to the dominant Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Rudy Gobert, starting center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Victor Wembanyama, starting center for the San Antonio Spurs, have known each other since Wembanyama was 13 years old, a young basketball prodigy with star potential. Ever since then, Gobert's been a mentor to his fellow Frenchman.
Now, for the first time, the two centers will meet in the NBA Playoffs in a battle between a savvy veteran and a rising superstar. Wembanyama's Spurs are one of the hottest teams in the league, while the Timberwolves fought through injury to overtake the once-mighty Nuggets in the First Round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs. Now, both teams hit the Western Conference Semifinals, and you can catch all the Game 1 action live courtesy of the NBA on NBC.

What to expect from Timberwolves vs. Spurs Game 1
The Timberwolves paid a heavy price for their victory over Denver in the First Round, losing both Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards to leg injuries in the same game. DiVincenzo is out until next spring, but Edwards could return at any moment, particularly during this series, after injuring his knee against the Nuggets. If he does, that could dramatically change the complexion of the series, but would it fully tip the scales in favor of Minnesota?
Anything's possible in a best-of-seven series, but the Spurs are still one of the most dominant forces in the league, as evidenced by their trouncing of the Trail Blazers four games to one in the First Round. Wembanyama is looking every bit like the MVP Finalist he is, the rest of the squad is on point, and the Spurs have had plenty of rest. Still, as the Nuggets found out the hard way, the Wolves have all sorts of fight in 'em.
