What to Expect at the Parade
TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker will return to host the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. As the Parade gears up for its 100th anniversary celebration in 2026, its storied history will be front and center as beloved balloon elements from the early marches will be reintroduced and reimagined, from Rainbow and Greybow Trouts to the Happy Hippo Triple Stack to Wigglefoot to Frida the Dachshund.
For the 99th edition of the Parade, Nikki DeLoach, Olympian Ilia Malinin, Kristoffer Polaha, Paralympian Jack Wallace, and special correspondent Sean Evans will make appearances. Mia Michaels will also choreograph performances for the arrivals of Tom Turkey and Santa Claus, as well as adding a touch of magic to five featured floats.
This year’s Parade will feature more than 5,000 volunteers, 32 balloons, three ballooncicles, four specialty units, 33 clown groups, 11 marching bands, performance groups, music’s biggest artists, and 27 floats as they all welcome Santa Claus and the holiday season.
A number of featured character balloons will make their way down the Parade route for the first time: Buzz Lightyear, Pac-Man, Shrek’s Onion Carriage, and Mario by Nintendo. Beloved KPop Demon Hunters characters Derpy Tiger and Sussie join the lineup as a mid-sized balloon and balloonicle, respectively. Six new floats will also debut, including a Stranger Things-themed Upside Down Invasion and Pop Mart’s Friendsgiving-themed float.

The biggest stars in entertainment are set to take the stage, with Wicked: For Good star Cynthia Erivo tapped to open the Parade with a “show-stopping” number.

This year’s Parade will also mark the daytime debut performance of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the Grammy®-nominated singing voices of HUNTR/X from the hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters.
Ballet dancer Tiler Peck will also perform, along with the Radio City Rockettes®, who celebrate their 100-year anniversary this year. The casts of Broadway musicals Buena Vista Social Club, Just in Time, and Ragtime will also perform in front of Macy’s iconic 34th Street Herald Square entrance.
