Miles Teller and Brandi Carlile SNL Recap
From cold opens to warm laughs, SNL rings in November.
November kicked off with an extra dose of energy and wit as Saturday Night Live welcomed back actor Miles Teller as host alongside musical powerhouse Brandi Carlile, who graced the stage for two soulful performances. As the leaves fall and the city starts to chill, SNL kept things warm inside Studio 8H — serving political jabs, absurdist humor, and true music that grounded the night’s energy in heart and soul.
Here are the highlights of Teller’s episode of SNL.
NYC Mayoral Debate Cold Open
Kenan Thompson opened the night as political commentator Errol Louis, moderating an over-the-top NYC mayoral debate. The cold open featured Miles Teller as Andrew Cuomo alongside Ramy Youssef as Zohran Mamdani and Shane Gillis as Curtis Sliwa. A surprise cameo by James Austin Johnson as President Donald Trump added extra absurdity.

Miles Teller Monologue
Host Miles Teller took the stage by sharing personal reflections on his childhood, his longtime fandom of SNL (including dressing as “Night at the Roxbury” characters), and an emotional moment: His family’s home was lost in the Pacific Palisades fires earlier this year. He used the moment to mix charm with vulnerability — joking that “there are fire exits there, there, and there” at Studio 8H.

Hungover Halloween Game Show
SNL leaned right into post-Halloween regret with a game show parody titled “What Did I Do Last Night?” Hosted by Thompson, the game pits a group of bleary-eyed contestants — including Teller — against each other to recall the hazy, embarrassing events of their Halloween night out. The prize? A large Pedialyte and a bacon, egg, and cheese — the holy grail of hangover recovery for any New Yorker.

Hockey PSA
This sketch has NHL players filming a community-outreach spot, but the wording keeps sliding into terrible double entendres. Teller plays a Nashville Predator who repeatedly stumbles over lines like “I’m a Predator in my community,” and the joke escalates as the directors (Andrew Dismukes and Ashley Padilla) push him through increasingly worse phrasing. The running gag culminates in Teller deadpanning his character’s introduction:“I’m Chase Kid. Right wing, Predator.”

Missing Wives Docuseries
The sketch plays like a tense mystery, following a series of suburban husbands convinced their wives have mysteriously vanished. But as the story unfolds, it becomes clear — the wives aren’t missing at all. They’re just on work trips, visiting their sisters, or running errands their husbands clearly weren’t listening to. Teller stars as the clueless husband who even creates a Tinder profile post-disappearance.

White House Makeover
Things take a political (and HGTV-inspired) turn when the Property Brothers — played by Teller — bring the twin renovation energy to the White House ballroom. Joined by Johnson as President Donald Trump and Chloe Fineman as Melania Trump, the twins attempt to give the residence a “2025 refresh.” Chaos ensues when Donald Trump tries to dodge the bill for the renovation.

Newsroom
This clever workplace satire takes on the open-floor chaos of a modern newsroom, where transparency quickly turns into trouble. Teller plays a distracted coworker whose computer screen accidentally displays something very NSFW, while a rogue printer electrocutes another staffer (Bowen Yang).

Weekend Update
Colin Jost and Michael Che host another installment of Weekend Update, with Bowen Yang returning as George Santos boasting about the Louvre heist. A bit about government shutdowns starring Andrew Dismukesand Ashley Padilla as “Two People Who Just Hooked Up” make for a memorable Update.

Murder Press Hearing
A detective holds a press conference on a serial-killer case, but the media gets derailed by comic book pitches and absurd questions. The sketch centered around the Steak Knife Slasher case, where the suspect unexpectedly joins a press conference to discuss “Gar-Girl.”

Brandi Carlile Musical Performances
Carlile kicked off her musical set with “Church & State,” a track from her latest album Returning to Myself. The performance included a recitation of Thomas Jefferson’s 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists, merging rock energy with historical weight. Her second song, “Human,” shifted tone to a soul-charged plea for connectedness and empathy.

Italian Restaurant Date
In a nostalgic throwback to the old “Italian waiter” sketch, Teller and Marcello Hernández play Italian restaurant servers aggressively flirting with the wife (Chloe Fineman) of Teller’s customer (Mikey Day). Tune in to this episode to see if you’re propasta or antipasto.
