In particular, at the end of the second episode, Traitors Candiace Dillard Bassett, Rob Rausch, and Lisa Rinna are put on the spot and tasked with an infamous Traitor stress-inducer: A murder in plain sight. The special task asked of the Traitors not only ensures the successful completion of a Faithful "Murder" but in this case, it promised a much-wanted reward for the trio.
Find out all the details below.
What is a "murder in plain sight" on The Traitors?
The idea of the Traitors being tasked to commit a Faithful "Murder" outside of the castle turret was first introduced in The Traitors during Season 2 in the third episode, "Murder in Plain Sight." After that episode's Roundtable, Traitors Dan Gheesling, Phaedra Parks, and Parvati Shallow received a letter from Alan that said one of them would have to give a "poisoned" chalice to a Faithful of their choice before the evening curfew or there would be no "Murder" the next morning.
The next time it appeared was in the fourth episode of Season 3, "I Will Bury You Under the Sand." Traitors Boston Rob, Danielle Reyes, Bob The Drag Queen and Carolyn Wiger were given a letter that tasked them with putting the names of three players into mini coffins right under the noses of the Faithfuls roaming in the castle.
Who accomplishes the "murder in plain sight" during The Traitors Season 4?
After the Roundtable in the second episode, the Traitors are given individual letters that task them with finding a set of hidden tarot cards behind a picture in the kitchen. They are to retrieve them, review the four Faithful players on the cards, select one to be "Murdered," and then burn that card in the fireplace while all of the Faithful players are still mingling in the castle after the vote.
Unable to get together to discuss a shared strategy, Candiace takes it upon herself to start an impromptu conga line with Lisa in the kitchen. All but two players are game to play along with the boisterous ladies: Rob R. and Rob Cesternino. Rob R. doesn't join because he uses the distraction to slip away, find the cards behind the Reaper picture in the kitchen and quickly review them.
Meanwhile, Rob C. is suspicious about the conga line. He believes the Traitors are up to no good and that it's likely that a murder in plain sight is being executed right under everybody's noses. He darts around the castle ground floor looking for suspects.
Who was murdered in plain sight?
When the dance is over, Candiace sees Rob C. and he tells her his theory which puts her even more on edge. Meanwhile, Rob R. and Lisa sit down at the chess table to cover their coded conversation about their "Murder" options: Tara Lipinski, Kristen Kish, Monét X Change, or Rob C. With no way to add Candiace to their conversation, they make the call that Rob C. should go.
Rob R. heads to the fireplace and manages to burn Rob C.'s tarot card with a candle and then throw the rest into the fireplace without being caught. It's a masterclass of execution by all three, but Rob R. remains cool as a cucumber as he accomplishes the hardest elements of the task. Their success ensures a successful "Murder" of their choice, but also the promised reveal of the Secret Traitor on the following day of play.
