Why The Traitors Sleeping Location Is Kept Top Secret
Do the players on the reality competition series even sleep at Ardross Castle?
Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed something interesting about The Traitors ever since the uber-popular reality series debuted on Peacock in 2023, and it's becoming an even bigger topic of discussion with the recent premiere of Season 4: Fans are kept in the dark about where the players sleep.
Cameras never catch anyone actually going to bed. While there are glimpses of each player in their bedroom appearing on-screen from time to time — usually in a theatrical, dramatic manner — not much is known about the show's sleeping arrangements.

Does everybody just head to their respective bedrooms after each Roundtable? Do they sleep in bunk beds? Do they even sleep inside the confines of Ardross Castle at all? Or do the Faithfuls and Traitors rest their backstabbing heads at an off-site location?
Keep reading to find out all the details that are known about the topic. It's more complex than you might think.
Where do The Traitors contestants sleep?
Mike Cotton, an executive producer on The Traitors, was directly asked if the cast sleeps at the castle for a 2024 Variety story — and his answer served as fascinating insight into what it takes to make the series a reality.
“I can't answer [that],” Cotton confessed. "The biggest thing is that the show relies entirely on the secrecy of the Traitors, and by that, I mean we have to be really careful that the Faithful don't know who the Traitors are."

The executive producer went on to compare the process to a military operation.
Why are The Traitors sleeping locations kept top secret?
"It's a massive military operation each night to get the Faithful to bed in individual rooms and get the Traitors back out to have their meeting," Cotton told Variety. "And as soon as we start talking about the details of how they sleep and where they sleep, it would unravel any potential future seasons… It's a military operation, that's what we can say!"
So there you have it — it's a mystery, and for good reason: The integrity of the show is of utmost importance.
The Traitors Season 1 cast member Wilf Webster gave fans even more behind-the-scenes details in a 2024 Heat magazine story that lend credence to what Cotton revealed. Webster said that players are "blindfolded until they get to wherever they are staying," which seems to indicate that everyone stays off-site.

But just like the game itself, it's impossible to be sure of what's true and what's another classic misdirection.
It seems that one person in particular had some nice accommodations during filming — and that person is the Emmy-winning host of The Traitors, Alan Cumming.
As it turns out, the best-dressed man in reality television has a pretty sweet setup inside Ardross Castle.
"I had a room in the castle where I would get made up and dressed. It had a huge bed in it. So I did actually sleep quite often, but not overnight," Cumming revealed to The Daily Beast in a January 2023 story.
