The new Peacock Original is an adaptation of a 2023 novel of the same name by best-selling author Elin Hilderbrand, a writer known as the "Queen of the Beach Reads." Here's Peacock's official synopsis:
The story follows "Hollis Shaw (Garner), a famed cook and best-selling author known for her delicious recipes, impeccable taste, and warm demeanor, who suffers a devastating loss. Unable to move forward, the death starts to expose the cracks in Hollis’s picture-perfect life—her strained marriage, her complicated relationship with her daughter, and her growing pursuit of validation from her fans. In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the stars will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed."

The Five Star Weekend trailer introduces us to Garner as Hollis Shaw. After the loss of her husband, Hollis is surrounded by her four invited ladies (Carden, Chan, Hall, and Sevigny) for "a weekend of five-star treatment" in a giant beachside house.
"Your husband just died, and you made us gift baskets," Hollis's friend DruAnn (Hall) tells her, before moments that tease a few of the women's secrets: Sevigny's character is dealing with a cancer scare, Carden's character wonders, "what if I'm not brave enough to be myself?" while DruAnn probes the mysterious Gigi about what she's not telling them.
We also meet a possible love interest for Hollis: her first boyfriend, all grown up (Olyphant).

In a 2026 interview with Flaunt, Garner spoke about her experience filming the series; specifically, how special the bond was between Garner and her co-stars.
"Oh my gosh, I loved the sisterhood of making that show," she sweetly confessed.
