The 'Burbs (2026)

The cast talks to each other on the street on The Burbs Episode 103.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 isn't the only horror-comedy revisiting a beloved world on Peacock this year. If you're looking for an entire series that plays with the same vibes and deepens the mythology with each episode, you'll want to check out The 'Burbs. Adapted from Joe Dante's cult classic film of the same name, it follows a married couple (Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall) who move into an idyllic suburban neighborhood, only to find much more than local gossip waiting for them. It's funny, it's creepy, and Palmer's central performance is just the beginning of an intensely charming ensemble.

Black Phone 2 (2025)

Finney (Mason Thames) and The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) in Black Phone 2 (2025)

If you're looking for another horror sequel that ups the ante, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill's return to the world of The Black Phone is one you won't want to miss. Set just a couple of years after the first film, Black Phone 2 returns to the world of Finn (Mason Thames) and the strange calls he receives from beyond the grave, hinting that The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) might not be dead after all. If you've seen Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and you want a sequel that's even more intense, with a bonus dose of nostalgia, you'll be satisfied with this one.

Blade 2 (2002)

Speaking of sequels that up the intensity of the original and get deeper into the mythology of the worlds, you can't ever go wrong with Guillermo del Toro's take on Marvel Comics' beloved day-walking vampire hunter, Blade (Wesley Snipes). Del Toro's film pits Blade against a new breed of vampires, The Reapers, which gives Del Toro the chance to flex his monster muscles in ways he hadn't up to that point in his career. The creature designs are great, the scares work, but there's a sense of fun pervading the whole thing, making it a great Five Nights at Freddy's 2 follow-up.

Renfield (2023)

Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula looks menacingly onward in Renfield (2023).

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a horror film with comedy elements, but if you want to lean ever harder into the comedy part of horror-comedy, you'll want to check out this hilarious (but also sometimes quite creepy) riff on Dracula lore. As the title suggests, the film follows Renfield (Nicholas Hoult), the long-suffering servant of Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage), as he realizes he'd like to be free of the toxic vampire/servant relationship that's defined so many decades of his unnaturally long life. It's a fun horror-comedy, a fun breakup movie, and a must-see Nicolas Cage performance all wrapped up in one.

M3GAN (2022)

M3GAN looking out of a window.

Love the animatronics of Five Nights at Freddy's? Wish they were a little more... well, flexible? Check out M3GAN, a wild horror film about an inventor (Allison Williams), her niece (Violet McGraw), and the AI-powered, life-sized doll (played by Amie Donald and voiced by Jenna Davis) that changes their lives forever. If you've seen any of the Child's Play films you might think you know where this is going, but the fun of M3GAN is how cleverly it both plays by the rules of the killer toy genre and subverts, creating a must-watch experience that'll keep you coming back for more.

Cocaine Bear (2023)

A woman hiding from the bear in Cocaine Bear (2023).

If you know the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise at all, then you know exactly what you're going to get when you go into one of the movies. Elizabeth Banks' hilarious, bonkers Cocaine Bear does that, and then swerves into a completely new direction by the end. Loosely based on a true story, the film features an ensemble cast including Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich and more, as they face off against a massive bear that, thanks to a smuggling accident, got its paws on a whole bunch of cocaine. It's as madcap as you think, and if you're up for something even stranger than Five Nights at Freddy's, it's right there waiting.

Him (2025)

Isaiah White and Cameron Cade screaming in Him (2025).

Him didn't make the biggest splash on the horror scene when it arrived in 2025, but while it may have been crowded out of the picture by other genre films at the time, it's absolutely worthy of another look. Directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Jordan Peele, the film follows a young football prospect (Tyriq Withers) as he enters the tutelage of a legendary quarterback (Marlon Wayans), who teaches that in order to be the greatest, you must be willing to do absolutely anything.

Violent Night (2022)

Violent Night (2022) Movie Poster.

The Five Nights at Freddy's games and films are, at their core, about the horror of discovering something meant to be benign, even benevolent, that has turned into a monster. Violent Night, Tommy Wirkola's film about a brutal Santa Claus (David Harbour) who springs into action to save the one girl who truly still believes in him, operates on the same principle. It takes the legend of Santa Claus, the loving, kind gift-giver, and turns him into a frightening warrior. It's not a horror film, but it is an inversion of what we expect from these kinds of figures, and Harbour makes the whole film into an action-packed blast with his lead performance.

22 Jump Street (2014)

There are a lot of sequels on this list, and sequels bring with them certain expectations. You want to raise the stakes, you want to make things feel bigger and better, and of course you want to acknowledge what came before. 22 Jump Street, the second in the 21 Jump Street reboot series helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is that kind of sequel, but with an added twist. Yes it makes everything bigger and better, but it's also a satire of the entire Hollywood sequel apparatus, right down to the moment when two best friends and fellow cops (Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum) can't stop commenting on how much the damage costs while they're in the middle of an insane car chase. It's not a horror film, not even close, but if you love the way sequels work and how they can play with our expectations, this one's definitely worth a revisit.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

Mario, Princess Peach, and Toad looking off into the sunset in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023).

Maybe you don't want to watch another horror movie after Five Nights at Freddy's 2, or even a horror-comedy. Maybe you just really want to keep digging through the history of video game movies, and if that's the case, why not try the biggest video game movie of them all? The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a great cooldown from the Five Nights at Freddy's world, but it also keeps the raucous vibes going, making it a perfect, though unconventional, follow-up.
